The Wintery Mix: Best Cold Weather Wear
About the only thing about bitter winter weather that I like is that I get to wear lots of cute layers! It's the perfect time to pile on your comfy sweaters, thick scarves, and tall boots. You know you're going to be miserable once you step outside anyway, (especially if you're from DE like me!), so you might as well look stylish. Above are my absolute favorite cold weather items- things that I look forward to taking out of the back of my closet every fall. I also threw in a few other items as well :)
Dark Printed Skirt: Take spring florals down a notch with moodier hues
Knit Headband: Cover your ears with a standout topper
Tweed Chain Bag: So regal and dainty, it will perfectly off set your winter look
Long Coat: Chic and trendy, a below the knee coat keeps your dress/skirt at bay in the wind
Leopard Booties: Boots, check. Lace-up, check. Snow proof, check. Sexy print, super check
Mixed Material Vest: Fur for warmth and leather for flare = a great 2 in 1 deal
Glitter Loafers: Shine like snow in made-for-girls loafers. You'll wear them again and again, I promise
Navajo Top: Be down to earth in a fun and surprisingly neutral print
Brown Leather Pants: You can still rock out in these pants without looking like a poser
Infinity Scarf: Easy to wear (no instructions needed!), and provides optimal warmth. Winning
Suede Gloves: Keep your digits toasty in trendy suede- others will be jealous, guaranteed
Cozy Knit Cardigan: Wrap yourself up in this classic winter staple. LOVE
Teal Earrings: The perfect color that goes with literally everything your wear. So pretty!

VMAs 2011: Red Carpet Coverage
Metallic Mania
Everything But the Kitchen Sink

Nicki Minaj looks a hot mess in this weird contraption. I really don't get it at all. What's with the stuffed cat toys, ballet tights, and face mask? Nicki tends to adorn outfits that I find neither fun nor fashionable, and this look really tops it off for me. Gimmicks need to stop, ahh.
Britney is Back in Black

I absolutely loved that Britney won for her video and received the lifetime achievement award (presented by a cross-dressing Lady GaGa), but her look was boring as usual. What happened to the days of denim dresses, pink pleather pants and midriff tops? Not that her past looks were very flattering or fashion forward, but at least they had the wow factor. This simple Missoni mini and calf cutting bootie look just falls flat. A much better effort on the hair though.

Really Miley? She looks like a woodland monster from the murky abyss in this dull and drab long sleeve gown. It's neither young, fun, or trendy and makes her appear twice her age. I would have shorten the hem, chopped off the sleeves, changed the color and print, taken down her hair, lighten up her makeup....basically change the entire look head to toe. Really Miley?
Gretel's Shoes

Ok first off, why is Katie Holmes at the VMAs? And why did she get to present the biggest award of the night? And slighty off topic, why did she guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance? a few weeks back? The answer we can all guess at (cough cough Tom Cruise), but my largest concern was her hideous clown shoes. They do not go with her dress, nor with anything for that matter (maybe a yodeling outfit?). Just plain wrong all around.

Katy Perry looked surprisingly tame (in her terms) tonight on the red (well black), carpet. Of course that being said....it is WAY too costume-like, and the parcel? Unnecessary and gimmicky. But can we expect anything less from Mrs. Russel Brand? I do love her pink strappy Jimmy Choo sandals though.

VALENTINO
Known for over the top whimsy and naturalistic effects, Gaultier brought his A game to couture once again. Birds feathers, sultry femme fatale, and major volume were showcased.
Karl Lagerfeld has been throwing out somber glam collections lately, and this couture one was no exception. Fitted jackets, heavy fabrics, round hats, and trademark patent toe boots were showcased.

AZZEDINE ALAIA
Bold luxury and timeless clothing describe Azzedine Alaia's design aesthetic. Snakeskin, feathers, short hems, booties, and tiers of layers were showcased.

Cannes Film Festival 2011- Part VII
Jane Fonda

-Pink and black Chanel dress: 6/10 (I was really not a fan of the collection this Chanel dress hails from, but I was hoping it would translate better on the red carpet. Sadly it does not. I strongly dislike the heavy black pumps and the baby pink skirt just isn't flattering mixed with the weird halter top)
Claudia Schiffer

-Black lace Dolce & Gabbana gown: 15/10 (Love this! So sexy, chic and simple. A throwback to the 90's which is fabulous. Pointy toe heels, wind blown hair and supermodel strut complete this great look)
Kristen Dunst

-Sheer Chanel gown: 20/10 (I adore Kristen's style choices at Cannes this past week, and this is no exception. Feminine and simply beautiful, this delicate gown makes her shine. Dewy skin and pulled up hair keep things pretty)
Rosario Dawson

-Red mermaid gown: 7/10 (Oh she almost had it! I absolutely love this bright fun red hue against her skin tone. I even love the fit and light material. However the peek a boo white really bugs me. Kinda looks like a mistake or the underlining of the dress)
Gwen Stefani

-Black and white Armani Prive gown: 10/10 (fabulous. Graphic, chic and bold all describe this look and all describe Gwen to a tee. the single stripe on the middle and the bandeau bodice is so youthful and unique. Rocker lips and hair finish off a perfect look)
