Cannes Film Festival 2011- Part VII

Janet Jackson

-Colorblocked Haider Ackermann gown: 10/10 (Usually Janet's fashion choices are quite questionable, but she looks so regal in this gown by one of my favorite designers, Haider Ackermann. Also it seems she has slimmed down alot too)

Jane Fonda

-Animal print gown: 15/10 (At her age, Jane Fonda knocks the socks off of all the Hollywood youngsters for sure in this stunner. I love the sequin animal print and the lighter tones. I can only wish I look this good down the road)

Eve Hewson

-Pink and black Chanel dress: 6/10 (I was really not a fan of the collection this Chanel dress hails from, but I was hoping it would translate better on the red carpet. Sadly it does not. I strongly dislike the heavy black pumps and the baby pink skirt just isn't flattering mixed with the weird halter top)

-Printed Miu Miu dress: 9/10 (Now this is much better! I think the green neckline detail is very interesting and refreshing against the black and white pattern. I also like the bright purple pump. However the dress has no shape. If it were longer or more structured this would have been a 10)

Claudia Schiffer

-Black lace Dolce & Gabbana gown: 15/10 (Love this! So sexy, chic and simple. A throwback to the 90's which is fabulous. Pointy toe heels, wind blown hair and supermodel strut complete this great look)

Kristen Dunst

-Sheer Chanel gown: 20/10 (I adore Kristen's style choices at Cannes this past week, and this is no exception. Feminine and simply beautiful, this delicate gown makes her shine. Dewy skin and pulled up hair keep things pretty)

Rosario Dawson

-Red mermaid gown: 7/10 (Oh she almost had it! I absolutely love this bright fun red hue against her skin tone. I even love the fit and light material. However the peek a boo white really bugs me. Kinda looks like a mistake or the underlining of the dress)

Gwen Stefani

-Black and white Armani Prive gown: 10/10 (fabulous. Graphic, chic and bold all describe this look and all describe Gwen to a tee. the single stripe on the middle and the bandeau bodice is so youthful and unique. Rocker lips and hair finish off a perfect look)

Cannes Film Festival 2011- Part VI

Blanca Suarez

-Coral Mini: 9/10 (Love the fun color and the slight drape front. The shoes seem a bit heavy for this look though)

Michelle Rodriguez

-Jean Fares Couture gown: 5/10 (I dislike the tight shiny fabric which fits poorly on her bust. The neckline is interesting but that's the only thing that is)

Alessandra Ambrosi

-Baby blue gown: 15/20 (Alessandra looks great in anything, but she looks especially beautiful in this gorgeous pleated skirt gown. The top half may be verging on prom for me, but I'll let it slide)

Julia Saner

-Mullet gown: 10/10 (I love everything about this look from the texture of the gown, to the deep forest color, to the gold strappy heel; such an unexpected combination. A stand out red carpet look!)

Elena Anaya

-Black/white striped mini: 9/10 (This look is almost there. I love the sexy mod mini and the bold graphic effect of the stripes. The shoe however is been there done that. She should have gone with a pop of color to off set the black and white)

Irina Shayk

-White high slit gown: 20/10 (Now this is red carpet done right! She looks like a million bucks in this sexy perfectly fit gown. The peek a boo slit, blown back hair and drop earrings just scream star power)

Leg Bearers

-Daria Strokous in a Roberto Cavillai mini: 10/10 (With legs like hers, I would go this short too. This look stood out among the other longer gowns. It's very sexy yet chic and the strappy heel is perfect)

-Eva in a tudexo shorts look: 8/10 (I love the play on menswear but the red shoes and green earrings don't really go together. She should have stuck with one color or even just kept in black and white. A little confusing)

Kristen Dunst

-Rodarte halter gown: 9/10 (I love the color combination of black and dark teal, it's so unique. I also adore the dot print and mermaid skirt. However I'm not a fan of the heavy halter, it looks weird on her bust)

Screen Sirens

-Jodie Foster in a navy gown: 10/10 (This is so appropriate for Jodie's laid back yet glamorous style. The chain detail is fabulous with the drappy front)
-Uma Thurman in Roland Mouret: 20/10 (Once again I'm a sucker for cobalt blue on the red carpet. Uma looks messy chic but in a good way. I love the interesting neckline and tousled hair)

Cannes Film Festival 2011- Part V

Bar Refaeli

-Long sleeve navy gown: 6/10 (First of all it's spring so why the long sleeves? Second, yes her bum and body are great but I dislike the clingy material and the low skirt)

Dasha Zhukova

-Long sleeve red gown: 8/10 (oh gosh, another long sleever. This one is better because the material is lighter and the color divine. Reminds me a little of MK Olsen's dress for the Met Gala though)

Doutzen Kroes

-White high slit gown: 10/10 (so stunning! Yes she's a model so it's expected but her styling is great as well. I love the blue clutch and sexy strappy heels, with sleek straight hair. White done right)

Fan Bing Bing

-Green Oscar de la Renta gown: 20/10 (oh she looks like a character from a fairytale, in a good way! I lust over this creamy green hue and the red lip is so Snow-White. Usually I dislike so much volume, but this is just perfect)

Karolina Kurkova

-Black cut-out Pucci gown: 20/10 (another great look for Karolina! This dress is so simple in it's execution and color but with slicked back hair, a great sexy heel, and a confident pose, she hits a home run in my book)

Kristen Dunst

-Yellow Chloe dress: 10/10 (I've been a huge fan of Kristen's style ever since the Spider Man promotions. The mustard color and pleated skirt are pure Kristen, a mix of pretty and quirky. LOVE!)

Naomi Campbell

-Burgundy Azzedine Alaia gown: 15/10 (I love when Naomi chooses simplicity over high fashion and over the top. This look is chic, fitted perfectly and looks great against her skin tone. I adore the tiered skirt and the interesting neckline cutouts. Her hair is wonderful too)

Zoe Saldana

-Printed Vionnet gown: 5/10 (ah I hate to give this score to Zoe but her Cannes style hasn't been impressing me. Alone the print of this dress is great, but it should have been a shorter hemline and the belt throws me off. I miss her leg baring daring looks)

Cannes Film Festival 2011- Part IV

Vanessa Hudgens

-Pale Pink Fendi Gown: 3/10 (So what happened to boho Vanessa? Her Dress is too sugary sweet and its looks too much like a heavy down comforter. Dislike the light teal ribbon too)

Jasmine Trinca

-Light teal dress: 10/10 (This looks is so summer time Cannes and the fedora adds a touch of fun to the outfit. Easy breezy and beautiful)

Sarah Jessica Parker

-Printed Elie Saab gown: 10/10 (This is a different look for SJP that is both fun and chic while still having that stylish edge she is so well known for. I love the side swept hair and that she kept her accessories to a minimum so the busy print really shined)

Zoe Saldana

-Red and white Giorgio Armani gown: 8/10 (Usually Zoe hits it out of the park everytime for me, but this time her look is a little too wacky for my taste. I like the shape of the gown and even the double skirt, but the candy stripper pattern is too barber shop for any red carpet)

Gwen Stefani

-Black sequin Stella McCartney jumper: 10/10 (While Gwen cannot upstage Iman in her gold version at The Met Gala, she does look stunning. The funky curls and rock and roll look suit her personality well)

Angelina Jolie

-Brown Atelier Versace gown: 9/10 (aw she almost had it! I love this dramatic gown on Angie from the high slit to the fit bodice, but the color is killing me. I hate brown and not even Ms. Pitt can pull it off. For someone as beautiful as she is, she would look good in anything. But more effort is desired)

Jessica Chastain

-Red Oscar de la Renta dress: 9/10 (red heads always look best in red and Jessica proves that in this very chic Oscar dress. I like the choice of nude pumps but I wish she had more jewelry, like a nice gold necklace)

-Yellow Zac Posen gown: 15/20 (First of all I am a sucker for this creamy yellow color so Jessica scores major points there. Besides that she looks stunning in this interesting bodice gown and I love the whimsical curls. She brings even more sunshine to Cannes!)

Summer Must Haves

Linen Blazer (a warm weather alternative for work)

White Button Down (the perfect breezy chic piece)

Floral Wedges (fun, cute and comfy)

Tie Waist Dress (adjustable fit, get one in many colors)

Cropped Pants (buy a pair in a bold unexpected hue)

Tan Cropped Trench (take the wardrobe staple to a whole new level)

Sheer Cami (perfect for wearing over bright bandeau's)

Midi Skirt (longer hems are the way to go)

Gray Basic Tee (the ultimate layering essential)

Light Scarf (add spice to a boring outfit instantly)

Bright Flats (stay down to earth but up your game in a fabulous hue)

Maxi Dress (doubles as a beach cover up and nighttime party outfit)

Ladylike Jacket (very a la Chanel, a perfect way to bring class to your look)

Pointy Toe Heels (Kate Moss's favorite shoe of choice, in a lighter color for summer)

Cropped Tank (let the breeze in and show some midriff)

Oxfords (be like the boys, be better than the boys)

White Jeans (white is fashion's new ultimate neutral, so nice with bright colors)

Black Ballet Flats (heels hurting you? classic ballerina flats will do the trick)

Wide Leg Jeans (70's are back and better than ever. Get your groove on)

Cannes Film Festival 2011- Part III

Clemence Posey

-Pale blue dress- 10/10 (Some might call this oversize, but I love the drapey silhouette, the simple hair and the darker shoe)

Elizabeth Olsen

-White lace The Row dress- 20/10 (Elizabeth is an upcoming style star and this look is perfect for the breezy feel of Cannes. The cute strappy sandals ground the look wonderfully)

The White Reigns On

-Delphine Chaneac: 9/10 (this is almost perfect, except I dislike the straps. It should have been strapless. Love the red lip and matching red pump!)
-Astrid Berges in Chanel: 8/10 (I adore the shape of this Chanel dress, but her shoe color is off and her hair needs to be up)

Holy Jumpsuit

-Axelle Laffont: 5/10 (Okay I love me a good jumpsuit, but the print is too tacky and the front too low for my taste. I do give her props for keeping the styling simple though)

-Paz Vega Reuters in Azzaro: 3/10 (This look is too much of a "cute" overkill. The bow, the sparkly collar, the flower shoe, the bouncy curls...Plus not an inch of skin to be seen. This is Cannes you know)

Karolina Kurkova

-Black Chanel mini: 10/10 (Most would hate this Gothic look, but I think if anyone can pull it off its Karolina. The styling is amazing and even though it's black, it still seems like a good fit for Cannes)

The Pirates

-Penelope Cruz in Marchesa: 9/10 (Love love love the dress. Such a stunner on Penelope and the color is great. Hate hate hate the hair though. The fake bangs need to go)

-Penelope in Stella McCartney: 6/10 (Again I love the deep blue color but I dislike the shape of the dress and how it cuts off her top half so oddly. Adore the satin pumps and straight hair however!)

-Johnny Depp: priceless

Foreign Lovelies

-Sonam Kapoor in Jean Paul Gaultier: 15/10 (This gown is so striking! The double skirt (one fitted white and one sheer) with the hips and shoulder detail. This is red carpet glamour)

-Gianna Jun in Ralph Lauren: 10/10 (In an industry with so many beautiful Asian celebrities, Gianna stand out for her understated glamour. Most of her peers tend to choose over the top couture looks, but I love how she kept it pretty and simple. Kudos!)
