Award Show Season: Gloden Globes 2011

PART 1

"Brand Ambassador Award"- Julianne Moore wore a hot pink one shoulder Lanvin gown. She looks great in it but I just wish she would try something different. This is also very out dated.
"Great Dress, Wrong Hair Award"- Sandra Bullock's body looks stunning in this pale pink jewel encrusted Jenny Packham dress, but her shaggy bangs and messy hair doesn't complement her look.

"Best Newcomer Award"- Winter's Bone shining young star Jennifer Lawrence brings a twist to the red carpet in this classic yet whimsical gown by Louis Vuitton. We hardly ever see a gown like this on a celebrity but Jennifer pulls it off wonderfully. Can't wait to see what she does next!
"Make it Stop Award"- Surprise surprise, January Jones is wearing Versace on the red carpet. I like the idea of wearing red with her blonde hair but I just never understood the connection between January and Versace. Her body and personality doesn't match the uber-sexy brand. Besides this dress looks very uncomfortable.

"Best Body Award"- omg only Halle Berry can wear such a revealing dress as this black corseted one. She knows what she's got and she definitely knows how to flaunt it. Perfect as always.
"Most Sweetest Dress Award"- Scarlett Johansson looks so pure and beautiful in this flutter sleeve Elie Saab gown. It hugs her body in the right places and her retro old Hollywood glam hair is the perfect finishing touch. Single ladies know how to work it!

"Best Color Award"-Claire Danes as we know loves a classic and clean look and that is just what she gave us in this Calvin Klein bubblegum pink halter dress. This dress is sooo on trend right now and does wonders for her slim body. Pulled back hair and minimal jewelry shows class. And congrats Claire on your Golden Globe win!
"Most Improvement Award"- As I said in my last post, I hardly even recognize Emma Stone with her blonde hair and tanned skin. But also her fashion sense has changed for the better as well. Wearing Calvin Klein as well, Emma looks pulled together and mature like she belongs with all the other A-Listers. Kudos!

"Best Dressed"- Anne Hathaway nails it in this Armani Prive bronze sequin gown. I love the strong shoulder and the slimming effect on her. 70's runway inspired blown out hair is soo perfect for this look. Rachel Zoe impresses once again!
"She's Back Award"- After many many red carpet failures Angelina Jolie looks absolutely breathe taking in this emerald green Versace gown. We are used to seeing her in black so this bold green color is refreshing. She proves time and time again that she is the queen of Hollywood.

Award Show Season: Critics' Choice Movie Awards

BEST DRESSED

Last Night's Critics' Choice Awards had a fabulous red carpet. The stars went all out in embellished flocks and bold on-trend colors. Here are my favorites:
  • Julieanne Moore- A LBD never looked so good. I love the proportion on her frame and the tie detail in the front. Of course the shoe choice rocks too!
  • Emily Blunt- simple and classic with the perfect amount of winter sparkle. She often doesn't get it right, but this time is an exception.
  • Mandy Moore- I absolutely adore this color and dress on Mandy. This shape gown looks great on any body frame and just seems so comfortable to wear.
  • Natalie Portman- In the beginning I was a little worried about Natalie's pregnancy style, but she proves me wrong in this black/white gown. It hides her growing tummy well and I love the one-shoulder bow detail.
  • Hailee Steinfeld- A newcomer to the red carpet scene, Hailee certainly holds her own in this outfit. So stylish, fun and youthful- perfect for a girl her age. I would totally wear this look:)
  • Emma Stone- I did a double take when I first saw this look. I didn't even recognize Emma at first. She looks absolutely breath taking and is by far my favorite of the night. Everything from her hair to the color to the neckline of the dress is spot on. She just looks so regal!
  • Elle Fanning- Elle is sure to be a major style star this year and she kicks the season off right in this off the runway look by Valentino. Adorable, chic and fashionable all in one! Her sister better watch out.
Let's hope the celebs keep this up for the bigger awards shows down the road. Fingers crossed for a stunning Golden Globe red carpet this Sunday!

Pre-Fall 2011 Coverage: The Best Collections

"The Outsiders"

With the inspiration of L.L Bean and the great outdoors, the label United Bamboo pulled out a trendy and eco-friendly collection. Wearable, fashionable and do-able, these clothes are a must-have for any wardrobe. I love the long john pants, sturdy boots, curtain-like flower patterns, and relaxed denim. In a nutshell, United is simple, trendy and oh so comfortable. You could do anything in these looks: shop, go out for lunch, hike up a mountain, and sleep:)
"You're a Firework"

Reem Acra's designs shine once again in her pre-fall collection. Bursts of bright gold, deep blues and greens, and touches of black glamour were showcased. A long time favorite of celebs for the red-carpet and major award shows, Reem Acra is a master at creating the "it factor". Signature palettes, ethnic flare and her overall star-power keep clients and fashion lovers like myself coming back for more.
