Top Trend Setters of 2010

"Vintage Queen"- One half of the sister stylista duo, Ashley Olsen has a wardrobe one would kill for. She always manages to look pulled together underneath all her fabulous vintage and designer duds. Unlike Mary-Kate (who has great style as well), Ashley is much more sophisticated when taking fashion risks.

"Simple Sophisticate"- Already one of my Style Stars, Carey Mulligan is fast on the rise in both her acting career and her red carpet style. She never over complicates what she wears which is something I admire. A fan of Prada and Chanel, Carey keeps it fashion forward and tasteful at the same time.

"True Beauty"- Although Anne works with Rachel Zoe on her fabulous red carpet looks, she makes the clothing all her own. Her lovely personality shines through in whatever she is wearing. I like how she changes her style up and can pull off every look with grace. She has truly blossomed into a style star this year.

"Mix Master"- Rihanna has been a trend setter ever since she hit the big time several years ago. I love that she is unique in her style choices, always surprising us with interesting (in a good way) ensembles. With a voice and charisma like hers, Rihanna can do no wrong in my eyes. I only wish I could pull off her looks half as well as she does!

"Flirty and Flawless"- Zoe Saldana has been on my radar ever since I saw the movie "Centerstage". She is undeniably beautiful and carries that through in her outfits. Her looks are always perfectly styled and they never look the same. She tends to wear stunning leg-revealing frocks, and with her dancer physique, who can blame her?

"City Chic"- Olivia Palermo may not be my favorite reality TV star, but I can't deny that she has amazing fashion sense. Being a NYC socialite and friend of many a designer, Olivia manages to mix high and low priced fashion to create a chic and unique look. Now the face of the clothing retailer, Mango, she continues to be one of my favorite stylistas to watch. Even if I really can't stand her haha.

"Hopeless Romantic"- Keira Knightly is on the top of my list when it comes to actresses. I have watched and loved every movie that she has been in. And like most of the characters she plays, Keira's style is very romantic and whimsical. She tends to wear cutting edge designs that most stars can't pull off. With her British ease and captivating smile, Kiera is a breathe of fresh air on any red carpet.

"Cool Contemporary"- Kate Bosworth is not much known for her acting as she is for her great red carpet and street style. She wears everything from upcoming designers to inexpensive clothing from TopShop. I look forward to seeing what she wears next and I aspire to style my own ensembles as she does. New and always exciting, Kate is one to watch.

"Ladylike"- Eva Mendes may be known for her curves and high profile movie roles, but I notice her for her demure lustworthy wardrobe. She doesn't try to be sexy because she already knows that she is. So by wearing such classy designs as Oscar de la Renta and Dior, Eva leaves a little mystery. I am a huge fan of her full skirted, floral and floor length ballgown looks. She seems to appreciate fashion and brings refinement to an industry that is lacking in that department.

"Shining Star"- Emma Roberts, niece of Julia Roberts, has finally come out of her aunt's shadow with her top notch fashion looks. She wears a lot of sparkly dresses, free flowing gowns and, on her days off, has a edgier street sense of style. Unlike some teenage stars (cough cough Taylor Momsen), Emma is always pulled together. She dresses her age but also makes mature styling choices.

Style Star: Carey Mulligan

Carey is one of my favorite actresses as of lately, and her effortless chic style is just icing on the cake. Starting out small in indie films, then earning an Oscar nod for "An Education", and finally making headlines in big budget film, "Wallstreet", Carey certainly has made her mark. Her red carpet looks always seem to be made perfectly for her. With a lean frame, old Hollywood features and a cropped cut, her outfits work perfectly to match her delicate figure. I love that she changes it up but still remains true to her sense of style. She likes wearing top notch designers like Prada, Miu Miu, Elie Saab and Nina Ricci. And Ms.Mulligan pulls them off wonderfully. Some may not like her choice of wear or how daring she is, but I appreciate a young actress who take herself and fashion seriously. Above are my favorite looks of hers!

The Golden Globes 2010!!

The Winner's Circle

I can't even begin to express how fabulous the red carpet was last night at the Golden Globes! Yes there was some minor fashion faux-pas's but overall the stars look downright gorgeous. Since there weren't any horrible looks, I am only showcasing the ones that stood out the most. And surprisingly these came from the big award winners.

First up we have Best Actress in a Miniseries winner, Drew Barrymore who like her spunky personality, you never know what you're going to get. However she looked better than ever in this nude/pinkish Atelier Versace sparkler complete with a beautiful shoulder and hip detail.

Toni Collette, who won Best Actress in Television Comedy, wore this stunning Elie Saab deep v-neck gown. It matches perfectly with her tan glow and wispy up-do, and not to mention, makes her talk so tall and slim.

Next we have Christina Hendricks in my favorite Project Runway winner, Christian Siriano's nude masterpiece. It fits her curvy body like a glove and looks great against her porcelain skin and red hair. Christina stars in Mad Men, which won for Best Television Drama.

Zoe Saldana, who is probably my favorite stylista right now, looked so chic and fashion forward is this burgundy multi layered gown. I love all the little delicate details, which just make her look so unique and different from everything else on the red carpet. Zoe stars in Avatar, which won the ultimate Golden Globe award for Best Motion Picture Drama (yay!!)

Then we have Best Actress in a Motion picture Drama (!!), Sandra Bullock, in a vividly bright Bottega Veneta gown. I love that she took a risk by wearing a fabulous designer that isn't seen that often at award show red carpet's like these. The purple almost translucent material looks great with her dark wavy hair.

The mega talented star, Lea Michele, looked like so unlike her goody girl character in "Glee". I love this black Oscar de la Renta ball gown on Lea's petite frame, making her look so polished and statuesque. On a red carpet without too many ball gowns, Lea's dress is truly show stopping. And to top it all off, "Glee" won Best Television Comedy!!!! Totally in love with that show, they deserved it!!:)
The last two red carpet stunners that I have pictured didn't win in their categories but were just so breath taking that I couldn't leave them off my list. First is the rising star and Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama Nominee, Carey Mulligan in an amazing Nina Ricci gown. Everything from the gown's navy color, to its pebbled texture, to Carey's jeweled hair do, screams style star. We have definitely come to expect nothing less than perfection from this actress!
Finally we have the always lovely Rose Bryne who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series. This beautifully crafted Lanvin gown is probably one of my favorite looks on last night's red carpet. Her side parted hair, jeweled hair piece, flower brooches on her hip, and dewy makeup just all work together perfectly. Rose always knows how to look classic and fashion forward on every red carpet she walks down!
